LIVING OUR PURPOSE AND VALUES

The Leader Glass llc was founded in 2015 originally for wholesale and retail trade of float glass. After some time, we decided to provide our customers with an additional service for collecting their glass cullet, which is generated during the production of insulated glass units and glass products. At this stage, we faced a problem with processing mirror cullet and any other covered cullet, because it cannot be sent for remelting into float glass without prior cleaning – impurities will clog the melting equipment and also reduce the degree of transparency of the glass obtained at the output.

In 2017, we found a way to clean glass from mirror and other types of coating and gradually began to use it, discovering all the new features of this technology and improving the processing line. Over time, we optimized the processing process and achieved the ability to process covered cullet on an industrial scale. Today, we work with leading global manufacturers of float glass and successfully supply them with high-quality clear cullet obtained during the recycling of covered cullet. At the moment, the processing line allows recycling up to 100 tons of covered cullet per day. This capacity is not a limit and can be increased several times with the emergence of the appropriate volume of covered cullet to be recycled.

That is why one of the main tasks of our company at this stage of development is to collect the maximum possible volume of covered glass cullet for further recycling and returning it to the glass industry. To solve this task, we adhere to a certain code of business conduct.

OUR INFLUENCE

We contribute to a positive impact by diverting thousands of covered cullet from landfills and producing sustainable clear glass cullet that is suitable for float glass production. This reduces the amount of natural resources extracted from the earth. For every five tons of Leader Glass cullet used, one ton of GHG emissions is eliminated. The transformation of covered cullet into clear cullet enables the replacement of raw materials such as quartz sand (SiO2) at 70-75%, limestone (CaCO3) at 10-15%, soda (Na2CO3) at 12-16%, and other additives at up to 5%.

This promotes reduced dependence on raw materials and presents practical and achievable alternatives for glass manufacturers. Collaborating with customers to address their specific needs enhances their adherence to internal sustainability and environmental objectives and contributes to wider initiatives such as the European Union «Green Deal» and the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050
